Welcome to Nuremberg, the city of toys!
Heart of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region
Albrecht Dürer and the Christkindlesmarkt, plus the airport and congress centre – Nuremberg, the core of the Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg, is more than a city with a history of over 950 years and timber-frame architecture. It is a mixture of medieval setting and all the amenities of a modern city.
The Imperial Castle and the large sacral buildings are just as much a “must” for visitors as the varied museum scene with over thirty museums, including the famous Toy Museum or the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Germany’s largest museum of cultural history and one of the most important museums in the world.
Nuremberg is also the city of toys: and this attribute is no cliché, but “game and reality”. A toy tradition has been established in the centre of the Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg since the middle of the 13th century, and – thanks to the well-known production facilities in the region and the International Toy Fair – still plays a key role in the toy industry today.
